Rapport and Reading Others

Rapport is that felt sense of similarity you feel with someone - called chemistry or “clicking” with another person, or being on the same page.

Rapport is also the basis of clear communication and is required for others to understand what you intend to say. Developing rapport with another person helps close the gap between what you intend to communicate and what you actually communicate.

Rapport has a structure and you can learn how to use it so that even “difficult” people or those who are very different from you have a chance at understanding what you’re saying.

It can also help you unconsciously indicate when a conversation or topic is complete, without always having to be verbally blunt.

Rapport requires improving your ability to read others, and we will go through a series of exercises so you can learn and practice the skill of noticing others’ subtle nonverbal communications.

You have flexibility with rapport when:

  1. You can notice and listen to others without unhelpful judgement.

  2. You observe behaviors from the other person or people that indicate you are in sync.

  3. When communication obstacles come up, you know how to shift your words and gestures to communicate more clearly while staying true to your intended message.

  4. People report that they are comfortable talking to you because you have shared interests.

  5. Others are comfortable disagreeing with you when they honestly have a different opinion, yet leave feeling heard even when disagreements arise.

If this is the kind of person you’d like to develop yourself into, then join this training to:

  • Be guided through a series of carefully designed exercises to learn and practice the basics of unconscious rapport.

  • Improve your ability to develop rapport with individuals and groups

  • Improve your ability to develop rapport via in person communications, zoom interactions, email or text exchanges, and in your writing.

  • Get into the most helpful mindset to build rapport with others.

  • Get inspired to try out your new skills outside the classroom.

  • Develop personal flexibility when communicating with others.

For each part in this training, you will:

  1. Listen to an engaging story

  2. Observe a demo of the process, live, with an experienced facilitator guiding a participant or group

  3. Receive written instructions for the process

  4. Have time to do the process yourself in class

  5. Review the process and have a chance to ask questions

What you Receive:

  • 8 Hours of Live Online Classes so you can set aside to learn a different goals approach and use it in class

  • Recordings of each class, in case you need to miss or if you want to review any of the exercises on your own

  • PDF Resource Guide with step-by-step directions for each process covered in class, journal prompts and additional attention experiments, room for your personal “field notes” for capturing what you learn as you go so you can reference them later, additional educational resources, and class information.

  • Private Course Directory to connect with fellow participants for mutual support and growth.

  • 2 practice group sessions, led by certified assistants, so you can receive individual attention and assistance in furthering your skills.

  • You also receive Bonus Group Q&A Calls with Katie Raver – for 2 months after purchase – where you can attend and ask additional questions.

For context: hiring a skilled coach to teach and mentor you on this topic would cost more than $1000 and is nearly impossible without completing exercises with other people present.

This program is akin to eight weekly meetings with a skilled coach, along with a dedicated community of fellow learners to connect and practice with.
